“The dictionary is the only place that success comes before work.

Hard work is the price we must pay for success.”

Vince Lombardi

Lord,

Help us to remember that hard work does pay off

even though it is the last thing we feel like doing.

Bless us with determination and perseverance,

Enough to get the job done and done properly.

Amen.

The Premier’s Awards for Teaching Excellence

Nominate an outstanding teacher

The Premier's Awards for Teaching Excellence recognize outstanding teachers, and school and board staff. Do you know an exceptional educator? Nominate one for a Premier’s Award for Teaching Excellence.

Perhaps it’s someone who…

·         Inspires kids to read and to love reading; to write and to love writing; and to communicate with more than just words

·         Teaches students to be good citizens, by encouraging them to think locally and globally and showing them the importance of strong values

·         Supports struggling students – helping discouraged kids to get back in the game and motivating them to aim high.

These are just a few of the ways Ontario's educators make a difference in the lives of students, families and communities across the province. But they aren't the only ways.

Share your stories of how that special teacher made learning come to life. How that support staff member made a difference for students. Or when that school or board leader rallied a community to make a difference in the lives of their kids.

Visit www.ontario.ca/teachingawards to learn more and download a nomination form. Nominations close January 28, 2008.

SEMESTER I – FINAL EXAMS

Friday, January 25 – 31, 2008

A reminder that should transportation be cancelled because of freezing rain or snow during the exam schedule, the entire schedule would move ahead one day.  Therefore, the exam scheduled for the “snow day” would be written the next day, etc.

Also, during the exam period, students may choose to study at home when they have no scheduled exam.  However, the school does provide a supervised study area for students who are here.  There are also buses that leave the school after the morning examinations (at 11:30 a.m.) and follow the late bus routes.  Please note that these buses do not necessarily stop at the regular bus stops but follow the late bus schedule.  A list of bus stops is available in the office.

The Exam schedule follows the timetable of a regular Week I school day, so students write the exam of their first class on Day I of exams, the exam for their second class on Day 2 and so forth.  Examinations are scheduled for each morning.  Exam schedule is posted on the website – ndchs.com.

It is the responsibility of each student to be present, on time and in the correct location for each of their exams.  Students who are absent for a scheduled exam, must notify the office (253-4700) of their absence prior to the start of the examination, and must provide a doctor's certificate upon their return to school.
