COOPERATIVE
EDUCATION PROGRAM
“in partnership with business and industry
in the community”
WHY CO-OP IS WORKING:
Students can test-drive a career while in high school:
Try the
job and get a chance to see if your career choice is really
what you want before choosing your postsecondary destination.
Students can build work skills:
Work one-on-one
with a co-worker in a program designed to meet your interests,
needs, and strengths.
Students get hands-on work experience:
Overcome
the problem of “no job without experience and no experience
without a job.” Put real work experience on your resumé.
Many
local businesses/organizations are hosting Notre Dame Cooperative
Education students this year in an effort to provide “hands-on”
practical work experience. Over 50 students will participate
in this year’s program.
Students
have the opportunity to earn two credits for completing 180
hours of work at their placement as well as 40 hours on in-class
training. Students must complete weekly logbooks and journal
assignments, in-class assignments, and a final workplace project.
The school-to-work transition program focuses on teaching workplace
skills and strategies to the students via the classroom and
work site.
We
thank all those involved in supporting our students in the Cooperative
Education program at Notre Dame. A complete list of participating
students can be found here.
